The director has landed another major IP
The latest from Adam Wingard, 'Godzilla vs. Kong', opens in numerous territories around the world this week, and it looks like the director has already lined up his next gig.
Adam Wingard would also be known for directing Dan Stevens starrer 'The Guest', and horrors 'V/H/S', 'You're Next', and 'Blair Witch.'
The 'ThunderCats' project he's signed on to direct is a "big scale feature", per Deadline.
It's based on the animated series of the same name that ran from 1985-89 by Rankin Bass.
The show focusses on a group of cat-like humanoid aliens who are forced to flee their dying planet of Thundera.
Adam Wingard is said to be using that storyline as a jumping point.
Then he "will take it in a direction he has been thinking about for many years."
Rideback’s Dan Lin and Vertigo’s Roy Lee (who were both producers on Wingard's film 'Death Note') are developing the project.
David Coggeshall produced an early script which Adam Wingard will rewrite with Simon Barrett.
The movie will be for Warner Bros. and is a CGI and animation hybrid. After all, they're all the rage nowadays.
Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like that other old school IP, 'Tom and Jerry'...
