One of the finest British comedies of the past thirty years, Absolutely Fabulous has truly left its mark on pop culture and comedy itself.

The creation of Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, the comedy series ran from 1992 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2004 and became a cult hit.

Starring Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders as Eddie and Patsy, two middle-aged women who are desperate to remain hip and relevant at any cost, it's become quotable and relatable for countless of career women and many more.

A film has long been mooted, however it's only just in the past few days that it's become a reality. Appearing on Loose Women, Jennifer Saunders announced that filming is due to commence later this year.

"Joanna says 'do it before we all die'," Saunders explained, to a torrent of laughter from the audience.

There's no plot or director confirmed as yet, or indeed if all the cast will be returning, however Saunders appears to be confident. "It all involves all the main characters and everyone that's ever been in the series," said Saunders.

So, thoughts? Adaptations of cult TV shows can be hit or miss, with the stats tending towards miss. That said, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa was a solid big-screen remake so we're hoping our own Declan Lowney could work some of his magic on this.

Here's a little reminder of the brilliance that was Ab Fab.
