CNN is gearing up to create a feature-length documentary on the life, times and career of Anthony Bourdain.
While the final season of his long-running series, 'Parts Unknown', is still being edited together and is due to be released, CNN are also working on a feature-length documentary that'll be released theatrically and tour the festival circuit.
According to a report by Vanity Fair, CNN say that the as-yet untitled documentary will be "the definitive Bourdain feature documentary" and could even be finished by 2019. Amy Entelis of CNN told Vanity Fair that "(as) well as we knew Tony, because he did reveal himself in the series, there was still a hunger to know more about him, and to honor his work and celebrate him. The documentary format became one of the more obvious ways to go."
Bourdain chronicled his early life as a chef in the bestselling memoir, 'Kitchen Confidential', which gave a frank depiction of the culinary world as well as Bourdain's drug and alcohol abuse during that time period, not to mention lifting the lid on the worst of the worst in the restaurant industry.
The final episodes of 'Parts Unknown' are due to air on CNN in the coming months, though no release date has been set for the documentary.
