Rumours had been circulating for a while that the sequel to 300 was to get a new title. What was to be called 300: The Battle Of Artemisia has now been changed to 300: Rise of an Empire.
The sequel to the 2006 blockbuster, based on a Frank Miller comic, tells the story of Persian king turned god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) leading his untrained army into a war against Greek forces. It will be set in the same time as the previous film which could have lead to a reappearance of King Leonidas but sadly for all you Gerard Butler fans he recently confirmed he will not be reprising his role in the sequel.
Filimg is currently under way for 300: Rise of an Empire and stars Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Sullivan Stapleton and Andrew Tiernan. the film is set to be released in cinemas next year August 2013.
