Disaster movie 2012 opened day and date around the globe to astronomical numbers. The John Cusack starring flick coined a staggering $225 million in its first few days of release, $65 million of that coming from an impressive stateside haul. Elsewhere at the American box-office, A Christmas Carol did as expected and hung in there after a disappointing opening; it coined a further $22.3 million to take its two week tally to $63.3 million and counting. Cinemas across the world are now bracing themselves for the highly anticipated bow of Twilight sequel, New Moon; a film that has broken pretty much every pre-sale record there is at the moment. Expect the domestic weekend to top $100 million.
