This is my first journey into the Soul universe. I'd heard good things, so I was expecting a lot - maybe too much. Don't get me wrong: this is not a particularly bad game, it just didn't offer me anything I hadn't seen before.

The campaign mode is weak, with half-arsed storylines strung together to justify the fights. Each character has a different storyline. but of course, none of them are properly explored.

This is all about the matches: button mapping is good, and with special moves and combos galore, they should satisfy the fans of the series. But I found the rounds too quick, and the contest too short. No due care was taken to make the single player campaign worthwhile. Basically, this is an online game with the shell of a bigger game hanging over it, and unfortunately, this has left big gaps.

Having said that, the inclusion of Darth Vadar on the PS3 version and Yoda on the X360, along with a host of other characters (both good and evil) should have you satisfied - if only for a wee while.
