Forgot About Dre's non-disclosure agreement
News of new music by Dr. Dre and a possible new 'Grand Theft Auto' has been leaked by an unlikely source - Snoop Dogg.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Snoop Dogg revealed that his long-time collaborator Dr. Dre is working on music for 'Grand Theft Auto' but didn't elaborate if this was a new entry in the franchise, the upcoming remaster, or music for the existing 'Grand Theft Auto 5'.
“I do know he’s in the studio,” Snoop Dogg said, adding “I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”
Snoop didn't elaborate further, but one can make an educated guess about where Dr. Dre may pop up in the 'Grand Theft Auto' universe.
Dr. Dre already has 3 songs on the existing 'Grand Theft Auto 5' soundtrack, with his 1999 collaboration with Snoop Dogg 'Still D.R.E.' on the game's soundtrack.
The logical assumption may well be the good doctor is working on music for 'Grand Theft Auto Online', where he made an in-game appearance in the Cayo Perico Heist which was released last December.
Rockstar Games have stated in multiple interviews that the wildly successful 'Grand Theft Auto Online' put paid to any plans to release single-player DLC for 'Grand Theft Auto 5' as the online component is a consistent source of revenue for the developer.
With content being released on a frequent basis for 'GTA Online' such as new radio stations, vehicles, and missions it could be speculated that Dr. Dre could be getting his own radio station similar to how Frank Ocean hosts blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM or The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas hosts Kult FM.
Those who played the Cayo Perico Heist may recall that Doctor Dre has a mobile phone with new music belonging to him stolen, which perhaps could be Rockstar establishing the new Doctor Dre content.
In any case, don't expect 'Grand Theft Auto 6' anytime soon.
Rockstar Games, much like Doctor Dre, take a legendarily long amount of time to finish a project and will release it when they're good and ready.
