Sony has seen an unprecedented level of demand for their newest home console

With its arrival just around the corner, many gamers will still be left out in the cold come launch day.

November 19 is the date many Playstation fans will be looking forward to, while some will try to forget that it's even happening. The reason for that is due to everything this year - with us all staying at home 90% of the time - Sony has seen an unprecedented amount of PS5 pre-sales. So much so in fact, that there are no more available right now.

According to Sony CEO Jim Ryan, their newest home console pre-sold more in the US in the first 12 hours than its predecessor did in 12 weeks.

"The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been very, very considerable," Ryan told Reuters. "It may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find one."

He added that Sony is "working as hard as we ever can" for the upcoming Christmas season.

Irish players who were hoping to be playing a PS5 for Christmas were left devastated in September when pre-sales online sold out within minutes. Sony has produced five million units for launch, with a further five million currently in production. However, due to the time it takes for shipments to travel from China, this stock likely won’t arrive in Europe until 2021.

So far in its seven-year life cycle, Sony has sold over 100 million PS4 units around the world to date.

The PS5 launch will see a tonne of AAA titles head to Sony's fifth home console be available from November 19. As well as 'Assassin's Creed: Valhalla', there will also be 'Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales', 'Demon’s Souls', 'Godfall', 'Fifa 21', 'Dirt 5', and 'Astro’s Playroom' which will come installed in every console for free.
