The latest entry in the Motorstorm series had its work cut out before it was even released. Justifiably delayed because of current events in Japan, Sony, like many, obviously found it would be slightly distasteful to release a game based in a land shook by an earthquake and wisely decided to postpone Motorstorm's release several weeks.
Therefore, at the moment its slightly difficult to praise a title who's story sees the gamer race through a near post-apocalyptic world constantly assaulted by violent quakes, but that's not the fault of the makers who have made, obvious distractions aside, another solid entry in a franchise that has rarely disappointed.
Festival mode is the heart of the single-player experience, a story mode which sees each new chapter progress through slickly drawn motion-comic cut-scenes and where over the top, non-stop racing madness is the order of the day. Just try and pay attention to everything that goes on the screen at any one time and keep control of your racer at the same time. It's a trick in itself.
Online battles add another layer of enjoyment, however MA's greatest failing is that you feel it could have been slightly better. Far from disappointing, but nothing groudbreaking.
