If the prospects of pitting Ryu against Spiderman or Chun-Li against Iron Man gets you excited then Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is an essential purchase. Players get to pick a team of three characters from a roster of 36 and switch between them during frenetic fast paced matches. Thankfully, the game looks and sounds the part. The locales are alive with colour and there's usually a frenzy of effects and explosions when you pull off a special move - the Hadouken has never looked so powerful.
The moves themselves are ridiculously easy to pull off (much more so than in any of the recent Street Fighters) and I managed to win some AI fights simply by button mashing. The game modes are tad limited too. There's basically a simple enough arcade mode and a standard versus online mode. Beyond that there's not much else to do, you can't even watch match replays. However, what's here is addictive and great fun if you're a fan of either franchise.
Solo players will find Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 a tad limited but that's only because this is a title that shines when played with, or against, like-minded friends.
