Coming to Xbox and Nintendo Switch
We don't want to alarm you, but you better say goodbye to your loved ones and your free time right now because the game is coming with online play, people.
'GoldenEye 007' is getting a HD remaster 25 years on, and it's headed to Xbox and Nintendo Switch very soon.
The title was revealed yesterday during the newest Nintendo Direct, alongside a number of other brilliant Nintendo 64 games for Nintendo Switch Online.
The original Rare 1997 release on Nintendo 64 will forever go down in history as one of the greatest first-person shooters ever made (letters in the mail, please). Based on the blockbuster James Bond film of the same name starring Pierce Brosnan, the video game will always be fondly remembered by '80s and '90s kids for causing endless fights at home when someone selfishly chooses Oddjob as their playable character during multiplayer mode.
This 'Goldeneye 007' remaster is also getting kitted out with online play (for Nintendo Switch only), meaning that there will be arguments with your mates all across the world while you play those tense hand-to-hand combat-only rounds or those chaotic grenades-only skirmishes.
No release date has been given yet, so settle in for a 2023 release date. The remastered game also includes 4K resolution, smoother frame rates and will come bundled up if you already own a digital copy of Rare Replay on Xbox One or already pay for Nintendo Switch Online.
Other classic Nintendo 64 games arriving online include the first three 'Mario Party' games, the two 'Pokemon Stadium' games, 'Pilotwings 64', '1080° Snowboarding' and 'Excitebike 64'.
The big Nintendo announcement from yesterday, however, was the reveal of the official name and release date for the next entry in 'The Legend of Zelda' franchise. A direct follow-up from 'Beath of the Wild' this sequel is titled 'Tears of the Kingdom' and will be released next May. Check out the new trailer of the game below.
