There are not a lot of videogames out there that give the gamer the opportunity to walk alongside some of the most iconic characters Hollywood has ever created, but Ghostbusters: The Video Game - written by series creators and stars, Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis - gives you this opportunity.

Playing the new recruit - simply given the name Rookie - you are given the position of Experimental Equipment Technician. You don't speak at all; your job is to simply run alongside Ray, Egon, Peter and Winston down hotel corridors and listen to the likes of Venkman and Stanz quip at each other while you try to locate such comedic ghosties as Slimer. Such detachment shouldn't work, but with some of the brilliant one-liners voiced by the film's main players and the fact you're playing a part in a new Ghostbusters chapter, more than makes up for this.

Unfortunately, the game is let down by some average graphics. Cut-scenes look great  and all the ghosts are beautifully detailed, but one expects more from the PS3.

Gameplay is easy enough to grasp, with Ray guiding you through the intricacies of Proton Blasting at the beginning -"Just don't cross the streams!" - and its hugely satisfying when you lay your first trap and zap your first ghost into submission. There's also the option of multi-player, allowing up to three friends to ghost-hunt together.

Ghostbusters is a solid game, that perhaps scores more simply because of the name and those that star in it. Fan-boys will have to try this, but those who have never heard the genius of a Ray Stanz one-liner, just may not get the joke.
