2019 zombie game has attracted large fanbase on PlayStation and PC

The rash of video games being turned into films continues, with the 2019 zombie game 'Days Gone' heading to Hollywood.

Following in the footsteps of other Sony properties like 'Uncharted' and 'Horizon', the post-apocalyptic zombie game will be adapted for the big screen.

'Outlander' star Sam Heughan is said to be circling the project, per Deadline, and the script will be written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Sheldon Turner.

Turner received an Oscar nod for his work on the 2009 George Clooney comedy 'Up In The Air', and the script is said to be influenced by the 1969 classic 'Easy Rider'.

Turner is penning the 'Road House' reboot starring Jake Gyllenhaal and our own Conor McGregor.

Considering how motorcycles are a major part of the 'Days Gone' story, it makes sense that a film version would crib from one of the most famous motorcycle films.

'Days Gone' launched in 2019 to middling reviews, but went on to sell nearly 10 million copies since launch.

The game has a major online fanbase, and considering how 'Uncharted' recently became a major blockbuster hit for Sony and kick-started a franchise, adapting another PlayStation hit for the silver screen was a no-brainer for Sony.

'Days Gone' follows Deacon St. John, a biker who is separated from his beloved wife at the start of a zombie apocalypse and treks across the Pacific Northwest in an attempt to find her.

No word on a release date, with the film in the "trying to find a star" process, but PlayStation owners who never got around to the game can avail of the game via a PlayStation Plus subscription.
