OK, the plan: bring the girlfriend over, use the cooking guide to whip up an impressive meal, and cash in the brownie points for some spices of my own.
Now, I consider myself alright in the kitchen. I can be slightly experimental, but more times then not, I am successful in my culinary darings. So I charged forth into this challenge with gusto; Nasi Goreng - a Malaysian dish - no problem! Alas, things didn't go so well.
The instructions can be confusing, and while the guide acts like it is interactive, it is not. It tends to steam ahead, leaving you playing catch-up in a desperate manner. The voice commands are infuriating, like trying to use those awful automated telephone services. After not too long, I was screaming profanities at the DS and threatening to drop it into a pot of boiling rice if it didn't stop repeating itself.
The food was fine, but the journey nearly cost me, my sanity, my thumb, and my bird! If only they made one for making cocktails, because after all that, I needed a stiff drink.
