Last year when the CoD franchise went modern, the gaming community breathed a collective sigh of relief. Maybe this heralded the end of the stodgy WWII shooters that had been clogging the arteries of game shops the world over, and what really helped was that it was brilliant. The good news is that CoD Modern Warfare 2 will hit shelves later this year. In the meantime here is a return for the campaign to the quagmire that is World War Two. Why? Somebody please tell me why?

The game, while beautiful to look at and featuring a modern score that will inspire tension, is just one long endless list of clichés. You jump between an American character in the south pacific and a Russian who we meet during a scene stolen completely from Enemy at the Gate... again!

The game lacks any real sense of passion and pretty soon will have you bored. Also, some of my best friends are German and it's just becoming embarrassing!!! Still, it holds its head above the other dire shooter out there at the moment so maybe give it a whirl if you are bored, mainly for the creative cut scenes.
