Over the years, Burnout's anarchic, carnage-fuelled games have filled the hearts of adrenaline junkies with glee. I myself have sat in the dark, wide-eyed as my screen filled with the slow motion chaos of a speeding car ramming into an intersection. You would almost forget that there was a race to be won, and you would be forgiven - because it was so much darned fun.
Burnout Paradise does not stray away from this; in fact, it's better. Gone are the linear race modes which could be downright infuriating. This is a free-roaming platform, ie. you drive around the city of Paradise looking for missions (of which there are plenty). These missions range from races, stunt runs and the ultimate in fun, takedowns; or if you don't want to, you can just drive around the city crashing into whatever you want, instead. At the click of a button, enter 'showtime' mode, to behold the slow motion mayhem that follows.
This is not a racing sim. This is as fast you can get, boost and - more than likely - crash! It only loses point because it has no offline two-player option.
