Let's great straight to the point - there's a new way to meet new, like-minded people and frankly, we can't believe no one has thought of this ingenious idea before.

Yes, internet dating is totally acceptable now and we can still hope that our couple friends will finally come up with the goods and deliver a fine specimen our way, but set-ups, singles nights and matchmaking can be just, so cringey.

MiX@ is the best idea we've heard of in quite some time - it just makes sense! The thought behind it is that cultural, current and fun-loving folk will be hitting up events like Taste of Dublin this summer anyway, so why not have an exclusive area where other cool people, who just so happen to be single, will be?

The brain child of Dubliners Nikki Dwyer and Alan Kennedy, Nikki set up the MiX@ event after becoming sick of never meeting anyone new.

She says, "This is not about speed dating, or gimmicky matchmaking services, this is about broadening your circles of people with whom you ‘mix’ with, the fact that they are all single - well it’s just an added bonus. MiX@ is different, present at big social events you’d otherwise want to attend. Now, if your footloose and heading to Taste of Dublin this June, the MiX@ marquee will be where it’s all at."

The first MiX@ event at Taste of Dublin, Iveagh Gardens takes place from 4.30 - 8.30pm on Sunday, June 15th. Mingle with new people, soak up the environment, go on a Food Safari and have the craic, basically!

Tickets cost €30 and include full access to Taste of Dublin, full access to Mix@ Marquee and access to the hosted MiX@'er Food Safari. See the Mix@ Taste of Dublin Facebook page for more!
