The Táin March 2014 begins on Thursday evening in Ardee. On Friday Queen Maeve's Army will leave Ardee, arriving in Dundalk on Saturday June and finishing up in Carlingford on Sunday. Queen Maeve wants warriors, walkers, and welcomers. Communities are also invited to dress up in "Táin Era" costumes and greet the marchers as they arrive. Ardee hosts the first evening's festivities this year with entertainment and re-enactments on the Square in Ardee. On Friday, to mark the departure of Queen Maeve's Army, there will be "Ferdia Friday" specials in shops and businesses in the town throughout the day. On Saturday in Dundalk, the Marchers are assembling at Oriel Park on the Carrickmacross Road at 1.30pm and march into the town centre at 2.30pm, accompanied by drummers and warriors. A spectacular Táin re-enactment will take place on the Market Square with bulls, battles and feats of arms, followed by other Dundalk events. Great celebrations will greet the marchers when they arrive over the mountains to Carlingford on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm. The Táin Feast on the Square will kick off an evening of music, celebration and re-enactments of elements of the Táin legend. The definitive Táin celebration - fun for all the family!
