The live-streaming show must go on

While nothing compares to a live show, dedicated artists continue to flock to social media for live-streaming performances for their fans amidst social distancing practices.

Here’s a list of the best live-streaming shows and events to look forward to this week.

Black Comedy Night

9.00pm Thursday June 25th

To mark one month since the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis Police officer, comedians Tiny James, Emman Idama, Shawn King and Jagruti Rathod are coming together to highlight the Black Lives Matter campaign and raise awareness about racism in Ireland.  Esosa Ighodaro will perform songs with her soulful voice. All performances are live from artists’ homes.

Other Voices 'Courage': James Vincent McMorrow and Maija Sofia

8.00pm Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Other Voices ‘Courage’ series have released a second round of performances, starting on 23rd June with James Vincent McMorrow and Maija Sofia, performing live from Kilruddery House.

Performances will take place every Tuesday and Thursday night, and will be streamed on Other Voices’ YouTube and Facebook channels.

 

National Theatre at Home - Small Island

7.00pm Thursday 18th June - Thursday 25th June

With the National Theatre closed until August, you can now enjoy world-class theatre performances for free from the comfort of your home. Every Thursday at 7.00pm GMT, The National Theatre will stream a new play live on it's YouTube channel and will be available for the next 7 days. Catch this week's classic performance of  'Small Island' over on The National Theatre YouTube channel. Embark on a journey from Jamaica to Britain, from the Second World War to 1948 – the year the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury, in this moving stage adaptation of Andrea Levy’s Orange Prize-winning novel.

 

Always Be Comedy: Online!

8.00pm Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th June 2020

Get your fix of standup comedy from the comfort of your sofa with the Always Be Comedy Online! Streamed live on Zoom, you can catch sets from Al Murray, Mark Steel, Jen Brister, Simon Brodkin Marcus Brigstocke and Rachel Parris. Tickets available online on the Always Be Comedy website.

 

 

Royal Albert Home - Martha Wainwright

7:30pm Wednesday 24th June 2020

While the renowned Royal Albert Hall have closed their doors until further notice, the show goes on with live streamed gigs as part of Royal Albert Home.  This week's gig features the unmistakeable voice of singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright. With an an arsenal of powerful songs, Martha is a beguiling performer and a refreshing force in music.

Outside The Box Comedy Club Via Zoom

7.45pm Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Headliner Rhod Gilbert is joined by Maff Brown, Terry Alderton, Marlon Davies and Ria Lina for a cracking night of comedy at this week's Outside the Box Comedy Club. The gig will take place over on Zoom for approx. 40-60 minutes.. Once you have purchased a ticket, you will then receive a passcode and username and invite you to a Zoom online seminar.

 

Basil Brush's Retro Quiz Live!

7.30pm Thursay 25th June 2020,

Calling all children of the 70's, 80's and 90's! Your favourite fox is back to relive your youth with a very special live-streamed retro quiz. Get your friends and family involved and cast your minds back to days gone by. Full details of the quiz will be emailed to participants closer to the time.

TASKMASTER'S #HOMETASKING

Immerse yourself in the bizarre challenges of the Channel 4 game show with Taskmaster's #Hometasking challenges. Following the format of the show, a new task is released on the show's YouTube channel every 2 days. Participants are given tasks set out by host's Greg Davies and Alex Horne, which they must then creatively complete from the comfort of their homes.
