The festival for Ted fans is back
'Father Ted' enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the typically annual celebration of all things Craggy Island is taking place for the first time since 2020.
Just like in the episode 'Night of the Nearly Dead', this March will will see a swarm of 'Father Ted' fans descend on Inis Mór for 'TedFest' 2022.
'TedFest' might well have been one of the very last festivals to take place pre-pandemic in February 2020, and it looks like it will be one of the first to go ahead this year now that restrictions are lifting, in March 2022.
Taking place between Thursday, March 3 and Sunday, March 6, Inis Mór off the coast of Galway will be turned into the legendary Craggy Island once more for a weekend of priestly high-jinx.
As you would expect, there will be plenty for visitors to enjoy on a weekend filled with happenings featured on the Irish sitcom. While the official itinerary for 'TedFest' 2022 hasn't been announced yet, it has been confirmed that highlights will include the annual Lovely Girls Competition, Ted's Got Talent, Craggy Island’s fittest family, Matchmaking with Nellie, Priests Dance Off, The Pan Asian Zen-Off, the 'Father Ted' Prizeless Quiz, the Craggy Cup, and even a Blind Date show.
So, pack your travel scrabble and your triangular mountain of Ferrero Rocher as you and your friends enjoy copious amounts of tea and sandwiches on the island with the likes of original cast members Fr Damo (Joe Rooney) and Eoin McLove (Patrick McDonell), who are confirmed to be making appearances.
The musical guest during the weekend will be Trad for Trocaire - so expect the dancing priests to be out in force. All activity will take place at the Aran Islands hotel on Inis Mór, where the music stages, the "Craggy Craic Den" and the full extended line-up will be taking place.
Tickets are now available at the 'TedFest' website (which you can visit here).
