Drawing ingeniously and theatrically on the themes and structure of a choral mass, Solemn Mass for a Full Moon in Summer is a provocative and emotional play about love, sex, faith and forgiveness. On a hot summer's night in Montréal, eleven people stand on their balconies by the light of the full moon and tell their stories of guilt, grief and heartbreak. This major new production for Rough Magic presents Québécois playwright Michel Tremblay's poetic play in a new translation by Bryan Delaney. Born in 1942 in Montréal, Michel Tremblay is Canada's most eminent playwright, with his works having been translated into 22 languages and are performed all over the world. With Solemn Mass he aimed to extend the lyricism in his work to write something that is "almost singing." Solemn Mass for a Full Moon in Summer runs at the Project Arts Centre from March 9th to 28th with preview from March 5th. Tickets are priced between €15 and €25.
