The first Rockin Road Festival, in aid of St Josephs Center for the Visually Impaired takes place at Grace Park Road Drumcondra on Sunday 23rd May. The Vespa Club of Ireland in conjunction with a group of talented bands and Djs have come together to present a day long event for families to get out and listen/dance to some of the most talented musicians in the country. Many genres of music will be covered from Rockabilly to Mod, Ska and good old Rock n’ Roll! There will also be Djs manning the decks between bands, as well as a children’s Karaoke - sorry no adults allowed! So a good time should be guaranteed for all ages.

In conjunction with the music there will also be a display of vintage scooters, cars and motorcycles, by enthusiasts and clubs from around the country. All the vehicles having been lovingly restored by their owners are sure to bring back fond memories. As is the norm for this kind of event, there will be a trophy for the best scooter, motorcycle and car, as voted by those attending the event.

Parallel to all the fun and frolics of the day, there is also a serious reason this event is being run. It is to raise much needed funds for St Josephs Centre for the Visually Impaired. The centre is the only facility in Ireland dedicated to working with the visually impaired and also with those who have multiple disabilities, including visual impairments. As with many organisations, St Josephs funding has been severely affected by Government cuts and therefore those who suffer are the children in their care. St Josephs offers services to those from pre-school age up to early twenty’s and a huge variety of therapies and resources are available to all.
