The 8th New Ross Piano Festival takes place, as always, on the last weekend of September and promises to be as enjoyable as the past seven. The Artistic Director, Finghin Collins has chosen exciting pianists, and the festival has a packed programme of concerts, starting on Thursday evening with young students, continuing with three main classical concerts where three internationally known pianists share the platform, two mid-day solo recitals, a masterclass, a late-night, slightly avant-garde concert and an early freebie popular one on one evening.
New Ross is a small town, and the festival has a friendly community atmosphere, while maintaining the highest international quality in its artists and programming. The venue, St. Mary's Church, has an outstanding acoustic and it is now attracting audiences from home and abroad.
The 2013 Festival, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the historic Kennedy visit to Ireland, will have one completely American evening with an American pianist. Full details of the festival, as they become available, can be seen on the website.
