The Dublin Latin American Film and Dance Festival presents Mientras Llegra El Dia.
Mid the turbulent backdrop of Ecuador's bid for independence from Spain in Quito, 1809. The royal army coming from Lima to stop the rebels who overthrew the Spanish government unarmed. The library-river city flees but is captured despite the protection of her lover, who must tear the siege surprising love of the army chief to try to save him from the massacre of 1810 when nearly 300 were killed Quito.
The film visualizes Quito of that era, a small city of 30,000 gentle and religious people, with strict accuracy; takes a demystifying look at historical figures, and delves deeply into the tragic sense of the events of the day.
