INDIE-PENDENCE has been at the coldface of pioneering up and coming Irish independent talent since its inception in 2006. The 2009 event takes the jump from a free single stage event to a ticketed multi-stage festival. Since 2006, bands like The Chalets, The Sultans of Ping, The Frank and Walters, Director, Delorentos, Republic of Loose, Fred, Ham Sandwich, The Chapters, Fight Like Apes, Gemma Hayes, Cathy Davey and The Blizzards have played to thousands at INDIE-PENDENCE. This year, the crew are promising to take things to the next level. Take one 10 acre green field site just 5 minutes walk from the town center, throw in one outdoor stage, two indoor tented stages, at least three high profile UK headliners, loads on ancillary events both on site and in the town and over 60 acts in total, you end up with a festival of the highest quality that the organisers say will cost less than €50 for a weekend ticket!! The festival will also link in with numerous adventure activities in the locality allowing festival goers to spend their days arrowing down the single track in the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park or wake boarding at Limerick Wake and Ski just 45 minutes away. The high quality of the acts, the set up of the arena, the activities and the proximity of the town make this a festival not to be missed in 2009!
