The Vodafone Comedy Carnival is returning to Galway city this October for 7 days, from Tuesday 20th to Monday 26th.
This year's line-up features a mix of international stars, including Jason Manford, Rich Hall, Nina Conti and Phil Jupitus, and our own home-grown comedic talent. Established names like Dylan Moran, PJ Gallagher, Ardal O'Hanlon and Deirdre O'Kane will perform alongside rising star Al Porter and sketch supremos Foil Arms and Hog.
Other acts taking part include Après Match, David McSavage, Colin Murphy, Jason Byrne, Patrick Kielty, Eddie Brill, Mike Wilmot, Tanyalee Davis and John Hastings
As well as taking over the pubs and clubs of Galway, the festival will be commandeering Eyre Square with the Idolize Spiegeltent being set up right in the heart of the city. The Spiegeltent, an ornate, one-of-a-kind venue will provide a unique and magical atmosphere for both performers and audiences.
Announcing the festival, director Kevin Healy said, "We have spent the last year tracking down and booking the very best comedians in the world. We went after the ones that make us laugh the hardest regardless of genre. That’s why we have such a wonderful spread of styles to celebrate our festival turning 10 years old. As Galway ramps up its bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2020, I’d like to thank Galway City Council for allowing us to occupy Eyre Square with our flagship venue – the Spiegeltent. They have really done their bit to put comedy centre stage in Galway this October. With their help and the galaxy of comedic talent performing, I hope we have a festival whose success will reflect strongly on the city and enhance Galway’s bid to be recognized for the uniqueness and richness of its culture."
