It is the film famous for one of the movies’ most epic kisses — a two-and-a-half minute kissathon between Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant. It was near scandalous at the time, but today we love Alfred Hitchock’s Notorious as one of his greatest spy romances.

Now, the ever-glamorous Notorious is the June film for Film Fatale, Ireland’s most glamorous film event. Mark Friday 7 June as a night of espionage, affairs, bespoke cocktails, 40s vintage fashion and retro music.

Ingrid Bergman, a notorious woman of many desires, and Cary Grant, government agent and adventurous man of the world, become intimately entangled during an espionage operation. Set in the backdrop of a post-WWII Rio de Janeiro summer, Grant must convince Bergman to seduce Claude Rains’ Nazi and spy on him. This dangerous love triangle is both a stunning masterpiece and a dark intriguing brew of lust and temptation.

The screening of Notorious will be followed by a 1940s summer party mirroring the style of the film, with performances from 40s sweethearts harmony trio The Bugle Babes following Film Fatale’s resident DJs, The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers, who will be playing dance floor fillers from the 20s to 60s. The audience is invited to help set the scene by dressing in their vintage finest, paying homage to 1940s or mirroring the stars of the film Cary Grant or the stunning Ingrid Bergman.

Sit back in the sumptuous surroundings of the Sugar Club, enjoy a classic signature cocktail designed especially for the night, have the Film Fatale usherettes serve you popcorn while watching one of Hitchcock’s most elegantly crafted thrillers unfold. Then dance the night away in a night of cinema nostalgia and old–style Hollywood glamour.
