The 9th Water Music Festival is just around the corner, commencing on June 25th with 6 days of musical and artistic discovery.
Coinciding with Carrick's 400th year birthday celebration and of course, The Gathering, highlights include Vladimirs Jablokov's 'Classical Twist' Gala Concert in the Marquee.
Fresh from supporting IL Divo in The O2, 'Classical Twist' showcases a dynamic blend of Slovak and Irish musicians taking familiar pieces from the world of both the classics and rock-pop and re-working them into vibrant, exciting shapes.
Friday night will bellow with the rhythmic big noise of the 17 piece Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, with guest vocalist Nigel Mooney performing music from the 40s and 50s with some modern classics mixed in. DCJO’s leader Ciaran Wilde leads his large ensemble through the Great American Songbook, a concert not to be missed.
On Sunday night, the unique and imitable Finbar Furey takes to the stage, performing a mix of old favourites and new songs from his latest album, 'Colours' as the closing concert of the Carrick Water Music Festival.
More musical guests include a concert from Choice Music Award nominees We Cut Corners, a recital from classical guitarist Darragh O'Neill and a classical and Latin American piano recital from Uruguayan honorary consul Jessie de Bellis.
In between, experience Festival Film Clubs, French Food & Gift Markets, Recitals, Fine Art Auction, Literary & Dramatic events, Children’s Theatre workshops, as well as Classical, Jazz, Indie, Folk and World Music.
