Since its inception in 2005, the Carrick Water Music festival has brought a range of musical talent to Carrick-on-Shannon to reinforce the image of the Northwest as a desirable place to live, work and visit. In 2008 the festival has grown from a five day event to a week long festival with an even greater breadth of performances from a variety of musical genres. Under the guidance of Gwendolyn Masin, this year's Festival promises to continue this mission with a programme of powerful performances ranging from traditional, jazz, classical and swing to our key note event - The Festival Opera. Highlights of the festival include: The Blood Red Mountain Band; The Original Guinness Jazz Band, Caroline Moreau; Redmond O'Toole and Cora Venus Lunny. There will also be singing workshops as well as a theatrical performance by Breffni Players of two one act plays. The festival runs from august 8th to 17th.
