MELANIE O’REILLY
Free Event

Acclaimed international celtic jazz singer-songwriter Melanie O'Reilly returns to her native Dublin, to perform a special concert as part of the St Patrick's Day celebrations for Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Her unique and compelling bridge between Irish traditional music/themes and jazz has won her a glowing reputation in Europe and the United States, and for this event, she'll take you on a creative journey: weaving original pieces. inspired by Irish language poetry and literature, such as Nuala Ni Dhomhnaill, and Sean O Riordain, while also interweaving vocal jazz rhythms with Irish dancers in an exciting, groundbreaking style.

'Timeless & thoroughly modern,....songbird Melanie O'Reilly showcases Gaelic as an exciting jazz medium along with innovative flights into French and American jazz standards. Her voice soars to dynamic heights, drifts into sultriness and fuses with masterful piano... a magical breakthough!' Gianna Ranuzzi, Artistic Director , Berkeley World Music Festival

Three acts have been added to the line-up for Meeting House Square on Saturday 15th March, joining Melanie O’Reilly in celebration of the St Patrick's Day  and Seachtain na Gaeilge. New vocal quarter, Landless, will be joined by Nigerian born artists Melody Maker and Loretta in a special programme of emerging vocal talents.

Join the party! Beidh gach rud ceart go leor! With Melanie will be a jazz trio, featuring Myles Drennan on piano.
