ArtBots 2008, the international robot talent show, will come to Science Gallery in Dublin for a three day festival of robotic arts and art making robots from 19th to 21st September. ArtBots 2008 forms part of the Dublin Fringe Festival and will showcase a range of creative arts and robotics activity. In addition to meeting the robots, ArtBots gives you a chance to meet their creators and learn more about the creative collision between art and science. The show kicks off with a performance by sound artist Ray Lee who will perform "Forcefield", a kinetic sound machine performance. Ray Lee's performance also forms part of Culture Night (September 19th) and is free, but booking is essential on www.sciencegallery.com. For each show, ArtBots organizers publish an open call for submissions, inviting artists from around the world to send us information about their work. There is no fixed definition of what qualifies for the show; if you think it's a robot and you think it's art, you are encouraged to submit. Every year the show is a bit different; the location changes and ArtBots director Douglas Repetto invites a new set of humans to co-curate the show with him, ensuring that the specifics of the show changes every year making it accessible to a diverse range of people, works and ideas.
