Art in the Open, Europe's largest Plein Air Festival kicks off again this year in Co. Wexford on Monday 28th July with six days of paint-outs throughout the sunny South East, culminating in a massive exhibition at Whites of Wexford on Bank Holiday Monday, August 4th.
The response to this year's festival has been tremendous; there are participants from ten countries so far, including Russia, Sweden, Jamaica, Israel and many parts of the U.S.
One of the highlights will be a free lecture at the world renowned Wexford Opera House by Spanish artist, Paloma Palaez Bravo on Bank Holiday Monday, August 4th. Other highlights include painting workshops and demonstrations with well-known international artists, including Dot Courson (Mississippi), Valerie Craig (Philadelphia), Billyo O'Donnell (Missouri), Aaron Schuerr (Montana) and Antti Rautiola from Finland to name just a few.
The festival paint-out locations this year include: Courtown Harbour, Clonegal Village (Huntington Castle), Ballyhack/Passage East, Graignamanagh and of course Wexford Town and surrounds. The Festival will host its annual charity paint-out in Wexford Town on Sunday, August 3rd with proceeds going to Wexford Hospice Homecare.
