A woman in Texas suffered third-degree burns after vapour from a bottle of nail polish remover ignited in a small room after being left near a candle.
The 20-year-old woman had opened a bottle of nail polish remover and left it unattended in an unventilated room, which allowed the vapours to gather in a small period of time and ignite. Firefighters recreated the events and found out that it can happen in a period of two minutes in certain conditions.
"It was surprising," Bellaire Firefighter Curtis Thompson told KTRK. "I did not expect it to ignite as fast as it did. It's an everyday use chemical that I'm sure everyone is not aware it can ignite as fast as it did."
