It may be the hottest day of the year so far out there today but this being Ireland, there's still some cloud cover to ruin things for everyone. But not just ordinary clouds. 'Lenticular' clouds. Fancy, wha'?
Now in case you were wondering, lenticular clouds *puts on science hat and glasses* 'are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form in the troposphere, normally in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction', which is big talk for looking like they're staying in the same spot. They've also freaked people out a bit in the past because of their UFO-like shape and we've all seen The X-Files & Independence Day enough times to know when we're being watched.
Conor Steenson caught some mesmerizing timelapse footage of one such cloud hanging over the Aviva in Dublin today and we're not going to lie and say we didn't stare at this for a solid minute in awe and making 'OoooOOOoooh' sounds. It's like nature's lava lamp.
