Omar Borkan Al Gala, a photographer, actor, and poet from Dubai was having a merry old time in Saudi Arabia at the Jenadrivah Heritage and Cultural Festival when The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices swooped in and apprehended him and two of his friends and deported them back to the United Arab Emirates. Why? For being nothing more than a pretty face. Apparently Omar and friends were too preened and handsome for the festival and authorities were worried that too many women would have found them 'irresistible' and that they 'could fall for them'. Which is a bit mean to everyone really, it's not his fault he's really, really good-looking now is it?
Well maybe it is slightly, seeing as he very much does look like he could be in a boyband or a future Disneyland Prince of Arabia, so we sort of understand where the Saudis are coming from but deportation is a bit much now. Maybe he antagonised too many hawks with his sexiness. Either way, Dubai wins because now we all know where we're going on holidays next, right ladies?
