With the former British Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher's death yesterday, and the world and the internet responding by going a bit mad with the commiserating and celebrating, it seems they've gone and pushed Judy Garland and the Wizard of Oz back into the UK singles charts. The 'Ding Dong! The witch is dead' joke was the first one that mostly everyone made on social media and headlines around the world, and the Official UK Music Chart have said that the anti-Thatcher sentiment has seen people downloading the song in record numbers.

There are three versions of the song currently winging their way towards the Top 40, with Judy Garland's at 54, Ella Fitzgerald's at 146 and the actual Munchkins' version at 183, which is slightly annoying considering it's the Munchkin version that we all hear in our heads. Anyway, if the momentum continues, Garland could be back in the top 40 by Sunday, almost 44 years after her death. And congratulations, you know probably have this song stuck in your head for the foreseeable.
