How much does it cost to make potato salad from scratch? €5? Maybe €10? In and around that, we're guessing.

For those who may not be aware, Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website that allows you to pledge money to various projects - some are creative, artist projects like a new album or a short film. Others are about new inventions or research.

The idea is that a set amount is needed and people pledge in exchange for little perks - possibly a T-shirt, their name on the product, whatever.

Zack Brown set up a Kickstarter page to make potato salad. That simple. Nothing else.

Almost immediately, it took off and one month later, the Kickstarter reached FIFTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. That's right.

Just under 7,000 people pledged money so Zack Brown could make potato salad. What initially began as a joke grew to become one of the most bizarre funding projects on the site.

Brown has since pledged that he will host a 'potato salad making party' in his local town and all who pledged to the campaign gets an invite.

Honestly, like. It's potato salad.
