Almost flawless modern masterpiece - Stefano BruconeThere is a telling scene at the very start of Drive which goes a long way to explaining the Ryan Gosling character. Against an electronic soundtrack that evokes memories of Crockett's theme, the Driver enters his new apartment, takes a look around and then walks back out to spend the night driving around Los Angeles. His identity is indelibly linked to more ...
Simply a must watch - smalleeAt first I was skeptical as I saw Gosling being too "soft" an actor and was preparing myself to potentially sit through a film being unconvinced. I was very wrong though, and quickly found myself engaging with his character and enjoying the "ride" so to speak. Would recommend to anyone not squeamish to a bit of violence - 9.5/10 more ...
Stylish - AThis film had me hooked from the beginning. It has a really retro feel to it. The opening credits and the soundtrack echo the 1980s. The first part of the film is essentially a love-story and a damn good one at that. Ryan Gosling's character is quiet and broody which is what makes him so sexy! The scenes between him and Carey Mulligan are very subtle yet more ...
Cool, classy flick - pansopheliaIt's been given five stars by just about everyone else who's reviewed it here, so who am I to disagree? In brief, Ryan Gosling plays the Driver. He doesn't say much, but manages to moodily express quite a lot - such as his feelings for next door neighbour Carey Mulligan and her son. He expresses his rage in a much less restrained way, leaving blood more ...
Can't wait to see this again.. - srThis is no Hollywood blockbuster and that's what makes this such an amazing piece of work. No mega action scenes or saturation of cheesy one liners here. Very European and very art house in influence. Again Gosling shows off his skill not only in acting through the bones of his character but also in his choice of who he works with and what he works on. more ...
Slick, cool, violent cinema - Colm2305We don't get over eighteen rated films too often anymore. Kids have money these days and their a huge market for our cinemas. Setting a barrier between them and a film will not be to the films financial benefit. It's a relief then that a film arrives that ignores this fact. Drive is very cool, very stylish and extremely violent. All of these elements more ...
The coolest film of the decade - Hanley“I give you a five-minute window. Anything happens either side of that window and you're on your own.” Straight away Ryan Gosling's nameless 'Driver' sums up his character in a film that takes a somewhat unoriginal storyline and throws it into the world of art house neo-noir with the likes of Black Rain and Brick. Stuntman by day, wheelman by night, a more ...

Gritty drama with superb performances - ging-grrI'm very glad this was chosen as the first mystery screening at Moviefest as I may have missed this gem of a film otherwise. This film gathers a phenomenol cast for a powerful dramatic piece. Ryan Gosling is excellent in the lead as the quiet but always in control driver and ably supported by some top names like Bryan Cranston, Ron Pearlman Christina more ...
Beautiful, Effortlessly Cool & Terrifying - &IshouldknowOpen scenes of Los Angeles with Ryan Gosling speaking, enjoy this as he doesn't do much of it for the duration. The premise has Gosling working as a stunt driver and part time grease monkey but also picking up a heist or two. Offering five minutes of his time for the job, no more, no less then expertly driving to escape. From scene one this film is more ...
