Very Entertaining - PatrickHadnt been expecting much from the storyline but this film delivers. Funny, emotional, touching and a good flow. All of which exceeded though by an outstanding performane by Caine. Strong performances also by the other cast members. One of the best outside the main stream films this year more ...
Aw! - JanetI'm a bit of a sucker for the genre: heart warming story of old lost soul befriends young lost soul and through their friendship they find themselves. This did not disappoint me. Michael Caine plays Clarence (obviously!) who is quintessentially old and cantankerous and seems like he was young and cantankerous once. The character feels very real with all his more ...
Poignant - mgalvin25This is a beautiful and gently moving film about an unlikely but nonetheless affecting relationship between Edward(Bill Milner) whose parents run an old peoples home and Clarence(Michael Caine),one of its inmates. Most of those in the home are in the grip of Alzheimers and there are some fantastically good parts played by such stalwarts of British film as more ...
Very satisfying film - Mick JordanMany great actors when they feel they have amassed a distinguished body of work tend to rest on their laurels and just churn out pretty bog standard stuff in their later years. Sweet story - movieloverAbout a young boy who hates living surrounded by old people ends up befriending one of them. You can tell what the outcome is going to be but their short journey is sweet. I would have liked a bit more insite from the other elderly characters but other than that, i enjoyed it. I especially loved the magic show. It turned me into a child again! more ...

I went into the movie like I do with all expecting it to be bad and usually i am proved wrong and it gets a tear out of me or laughter, but this more ...
Engaging, thuoghtful, sad and funny movie - Anne ClareDon't be put off by the theme of the latest movie from the Cork Director, John Crowley. Its very different to 'Intermission', but it is a very enjoyble, thoughtful film, a sad story about the end of life, told with humour, compassion and some wonderful acting from Michael Caine and the young Bill Milner. Those in the roles of the elderly residents of the more ...
