Unbelievable prefromance from Penn - SarahTo make a biopic of someone is probably extremely difficult, but to make one about a person who was so influential and inspiring and who lived in the recent past must be nearly impossible. Not only does the film have to portray the time authentically but also the people who lived in it. Harvey Milk was a one in a million, who inspired hope in gay people more ...
Good, though depends on your mindset - Cyberx_94Milk Milk is a political biographical Drama about Harvey Milk , the real life politician and civil rights activist who became the first homosexual man to take office in America. The movie stars Sean Penn in the lead role and is directed by Gus von Gant. It is 2 hours long. See this film immediately. I cannot stress that enough. Though do so with an open more ...
A must see movie - carolThis is a fantastic movie and teaches alot about what people had to go through, which still goes on today but Harvey fought for justice for all and I support too. It was a sad ending. But atleast we know he'll never be forgotten. Great movie. more ...

Excellent - jennithHarvey Milk was the first openly gay man to hold senior public office in the Unites States, becoming one of San Francisco's City Supervisors in 1977. In 1978, he, along with the city's mayor, George Moscone, was shot dead by Dan White, a former supervisor who had resigned his post and then sought to be reinstated. Milk's story will be new to many on this more ...
Deeply Satisfying - ShariIt takes a lot for any film to penetrate my icy cold heart, but this one had me on the verge of possibly having a lump in my throat. Milk tells the story of Harvey Milk, who at the age of 47 became the first openly gay person to be elected to office in the United States, only to be assassinated within his first year as city supervisor. Milk is played with more ...
Excellent - Bunny SummersGreat film, Sean Penn is really good, James Franco is fabulous. Their characters' relationship very well portrayed. It's well worth a visit to the Cinema. Not sure if the rating is really 15A - would have thought it more 16. Having said that, I assume over 15s will only bring mature under 15s to see it - it is NOT a kids film. Enjoy. more ...
Admirable but empty - JanetLet me start by saying I love Sean Penn but I do not buy him as a gay man. Maybe he is typecast for me. I ended up comparing him to Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capone and he did not stack up well. Milk tells the story of Harvey Milk who was the first gay person to be elected to public office in the States and it is a wonderful story of hope. I am glad that it more ...
Well Worth a Watch - Keith CGood solid movie, with some excellent performances from all involved. Sean Penn is excellent and a big change from the dark, edgy character he normally portrays. Josh Brolin is excellent as ever and you can sense the conflict his character goes through from the off. Real Life news clips give this a real sense of authenticity and you leave feeling you've more ...
GONE OFF MILK ! - KeithMilk tells the story of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician elected in the US. The film should have been called 'Campaign' because that's all it was about. Harvey Milk's character, his life, his past, his weaknesses etc were never explored, he was portrayed as this kindly human who exceeds anyone's version of a saint. I would of liked to see a more more ...
Very good movie - nicenicI just came from the movie and it was avery good movie. I didnt know who was MIlk so i thought lets watch it and it is great to see the actors actually kissing for more than one second like a very intimate kiss. Also I like the mix between the film and original films use to show San Fran in the 70s. As I didnt read anything about the movie I didn't expect more ...
Milk delivers a universal message - MadzForget about Oscar nominations and pseudo-antagonism between Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke. Had Milk been released at any other time during the year it would be no less remarkable. But the fact of the matter is that Mr Penn is unable to give anything but Oscar-worthy performances and his portrayal of Harvey Milk is nothing short of spectacular. (Yes, I'm a more ...
Top Drawer - BrianI went into 'Milk' open minded. Knowing that it was a film worthy of Oscars, and with a exceedingly talented young cast; I was expecting for the film to be something special, and I wasn't disappointed. 'Milk' tells the true story of Harvey Milk, a gay politician fighting for equality in a troubled San Francisco. The film is told almost as a final memoir, more ...
A true revolutionary - Siobhan LThis is a great movie - well shot that tells a story well. Penn does a great job as this social revolutionary. The inclusion of actual newsreel helps tell the story of Harveys political life in San Francisco. It reminds us that until very recently all homosexuals were in the closet. Harveys relationship is the second story that is told well - not just a gay more ...
another biopic but still good - tomwhile this is a very well made film with the relevent subject matter handled with care i still feel itsjust another standard biopic we've seen a hundred times before. The highs and lows of some great figure it's been done. It seems every year coming up to the oscars there's at least a couple of biopics, this years are Che and Milk. It's a good film and sean more ...

Brilliant - CraigSean Penn proves yet again why he is one of the greatest actors gracing our screens. 'Milk' is a fantastic story and this movie defines both the career of Harvey Milk and the plight of all homosexuals in America during the 70's. The prejudices they faced and the battles they fought to earn their place in history and Harvey Milk was a great friend, role more ...
Great Actors give justice to a Great Story - Shane30 years on and the issues told in this story are still relevant today. The casting is perfect and the similarity between the actors and those they are playing is amazing. The story is told with power and shows how one person can influence the masses. Milk may have been standing up for the gay community, however he gained the support of the Unions and more ...
