very good - SarahRoger Ferris is the CIA man on the ground in war torn Iraq. Ed Hoffman is the puppet master pulling the strings from Langley, and really doesn't know what its like on the ground for his operative in this extremely volatile environment. The film starts off with your stereotypical CIA operations where they turn the locals for info on the terrorists. things more ...
good - LockyThis is a good film. very well acted and some parts are really well done. Di caprio flips out a few times at Crowe and them seens are very good. This sort of film has been done a few times before but it is definetly one of the better one's. more ...
self congratulatory stuff - roxxyyWhile this film does give a slight look into the covert world of US overseas ops in the Middle East and the issues at play - its basically just a veichle for Leonardo De Caprio to play the anti hero and get with a chick. Very buy the numbers stuff. Sure theres some good action, original scenes, and snappy dialogue here and there - but its just an more ...
One for the Boys - jennithThis film deals with the war on terror and shows the different sides to it and what is happening. We meet Ed Hoffman played by Crowe who sits in his office directing what happens on the ground and playing with people's life like a teenager with a video game. We then meet Roger Ferris played by Di Caprio who is putting his life at risk on the ground trying more ...
DiCaprio outshines Crowe - Cascarino"Body of Lies" teams up Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe in a match which can't fail but draw in the crowds. Yet, while we are promised much by this all-star casting, the film itself doesn't quite deliver on its promise, meandering along rather meekly without making any profound point. You can't blame the acting for that, as DiCaprio again more ...
Less talk more action - PlantHere we have a fat Crowe doing a lot of talking on the phone as he guides his young puppet agent in the field as he sits comfortably at home enjoying the drudgery of domestic bliss. His Crowe's views are that of course he know how best to run a field operation from the safety of miles away and of course ignores DiCaprio's field experience and methods. The more ...
A little Boring - elmoIm a huge DiCaprio fan and although he put in a great performance it wasnt enough for me to really love this film. It was enjoyable and kept my interest for the most part however it was a little drawn out and lacked action. I found myself fidgeting towards the end. more ...
Not intellectual but peerless acting - slickThe story is too simple to bother with, but you'll enjoy immersing in the real world behind our TV snapshots of the mid-east, the jiyhadists, their misconceptions, and the west with it's own. DiCaprio stands supreme, finally confident enough to smile at seemingly inappropriate moments-a grown up actor destined for major status. Otherwise disappointing-no more ...
Worth Watching - Siobhan LDi Caprio plays an ambitious CIA operative who is working his way up the ladder even being able to blend in prima facie as an Arab. He is posted to the Middle East and reports to Russell Crowe. His move to Jordan causes him to decieve people he respects and he becomes conflicted. Its Spy Game meets Syriana. A good movie but not a classic more ...
2nd time's a charm - KeanoIt's funny going to a film twice in two days. You get to see what works and what doesn't work with 2 different audiences. Ended up seeing this film twice due to work, but must say i thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Well paced, and solid performances from Crowe and DiCaprio, though i think Mark Strong's performance was my favourite. It's funny in parts as more ...
not your average terrorist movie - b_plant01Complex…. That's how I'd start this review of a very good movie. I went to see this film knowing very little about it, apart from the fact that it was about a CIA agent played by Leo DiCaprio (Ferris) working in the middle east trying to locate terrorist cells while constantly in touch with his boss back in the states played by Russell Crowe more ...
A bit short on originality, Body of Lies is still an entertaining spy thriller. The performances are top notch with Mark Strong receiving the A+. - lou macIt is post 9/11 and the Americans are fighting the war on terror. Roger Ferris (Leonardo Di Caprio) works for the CIA and is stationed in Samara, Iraq. His mission is to find the terrorist leader in the Middle East who was responsible for a series of bombings in Europe. The operation takes him all over Jordan, Dubai, Turkey and Syria. A conscientious, more ...
From the first time when going through the movie felt it was well made characteristic - ujseshdspldersFrom the first time when going through the movie felt it was well made characteristic Movie based on Leonardo DiCaprio had done his part extremely at his best. Body of Lies has his own vision of explanation. Wonderful to watch till the end unlike other war movies it is running slowly and made it mark with grate peace of directing. more ...
Saw Early Release Tonight - MillsSnellI am a Student at the University of South Carolina, where there was an early viewing of this film. Three hundred students packed out the theater, and they were not let down. Without giving away too much, the movie does a brilliant job and making sure the American mindset is in check. The American's aren't the top dog, especially in many middle easterner's more ...
