Valentine's Day has proved a marketing coup for Warner Bros. as the starry romantic comedy coined a stunning $52 million in its opening three days of release in America.

The film, which has a full 18 faces on its poster, was expected to open big, just not that big. Elsewhere, two other wide releases also managed to pull in the masses as Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief and The Wolfman bagged $31.1 million and $30.6 million apiece.

It's rare three such films are released on the weekend to boffo box-office, but all the suits involved here must be delighted with the returns. For those interested, you can see my interviews with the Valentine's Day cast over yonder.
