It was a very sad weekend for the music industry. Yesterday, the news broke that  one of Irelands best loved pop stars,Stephen Gately from Boyzone, had passed away. Throughout the day and night, tributes were pouring from every corner of the industry and last nights X Factor Live results show was missing the bands manager Louis Walsh, obviously. Simon Cowell sent on his condolences on behalf of the show, himself and the other judges. Sir Elton John said, "David Furnish and I are stunned. Stephen was the kindest Gentlest soul. We send our love and condolences to his partner Andy and to all his friends everywhere". Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber also said "Stephen was enormously talented. I very much enjoyed working with him on Joseph and Boyzone on the song No Matter What".

As police on the Balearic Island continue to investigate what happened that night, they are now searching for a Bulgarian male who was allegedly invited back to Gately and his partner Andrew's pad. The male is not suspected in being involved with the west end stars death but he may help provide some answers and help the police get to the bottom of what happened. The post mortem, which is taking place tomorrow, will hopefully put a stop to all the endless rumours that are doing the rounds at the moment. You can also go on over to Caught Out where there are a few photos from Stephens early days in Boyzone, his time on stage during their tour and lots more.
