Lady Gaga's latest video for her new single 'Alejandro' was unveiled earlier this week, and has since caused widespread controversy. "No s**t", I hear you say, "Isn't that the very purpose of Gaga's existence?"Quite.

While some argue Gaga is "pushing boundaries", others have condemned her use of religious imagery alongside sexually explicit scenes of gay bondage. The Catholic League, in particular, called the video "decadent" and "abusive".

The video was co-directed by Lady Gaga alonside fashion photographer Steven Klein, who has defended the video, and said that it was not intended to be offensive.
Speaking to MTV News, Klein said, "The religious symbolism is not meant to denote anything negative, but represents the character's battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of the soul."

"Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun, and the reason her mouth and eyes disappear is because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation."

Many have commented on the clip's conscious reference's to Madonna's controversial and groundbreaking videos for 'Like A Prayer' and 'Justify My Love'. Of course, Klein is right when he says it was not intended to be offensive. It was intended to get publicity, and boy, has it done its job.

In other Gaga related gossip, reports have surfaced that the Lady has plans to pose nude for Playboy. Are you surprised? Nah, me neither.
