Scottish indie rockers Idlewild have announced that they will go on an hiatus once they finished their current UK & Ireland tour.

Sure, these lads haven't released a good album since 2002's 'The Remote Part', were dropped from EMI after it's mediocre follow up, 'Warnings/Promises', in 2005, and had to ask fans to help fun their latest effort, last year's 'Post Electric Blues', so this has been coming for quite a while. Still, we'll be sad if this hiatus goes on indefinitely and this week's Irish shows in Belfast and Dublin turn out to be their last.

Frontman Roddy Woomble delivered the announcement via Facebook:
"At the end of this final part of the tour we will have played 40 gigs around the UK and Ireland in support of [new album] 'Post Electric Blues', which seems more than enough for some time ... There isn’t the demand for our music that there was in the past, especially not outside of Britain, so it seems after this year it's an appropriate time to take a break, a 'hiatus' or whatever you want to call it."

To remind ourselves why we once loved Idlewild, here's a golden oldie from their punk rockin' days.
