Judd Apatow has just bought three pitches from one of his supporting stars in Funny People, Aziz Ansari. According to Variety, Apatow bought them on the spot, after Ansari and his writing partner, Jason Woliner, impressed him with their potential for larfs.

First one is called Let's Do This, and is a road movie about two motivational speakers; while the second one follows his character from Funny People, (awful comedian) Randy; and the third is about a cosmonaut who goes back out into space to clear his name. Ansari would take the lead in all three productions, while Woliner, who has directed a bunch of shorts for FunnyorDie.com would helm.

Ansari was very funny as a correspondent on The Daily Show, and also appeared in the last season of Scrubs. Could Apatow be moulding a new comedy star?
