A sequel to the hit comic book adaptation Ghost Rider is to go ahead, with Nicolas Cage in the lead role once again, and Crank writer/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor in negotiations to direct a story from Batman Begins scripter, David Goyer.

The first flick came by way of Daredevil helmer Mark Steven Johnson, and was torn asunder by critics, but still made well over $200 million worldwide. Another movie had been mooted for a long time, but it was thought to be a reboot, with Cage being replaced. The rights for the character would have reverted back to Marvel, had Sony not rolled before November, so they want this made pronto - which is probably why Cage is being heavily pursued by the studio.

I have a soft spot for Daredevil, and Ghost Rider had some slick effects, but was otherwise fairly inane. If Neveldine and Taylor do sign on, expect something exceedingly more mental.
