Having become the first band to stream one of their concerts in its entirety online last week, U2 have now announced another noteworthy performance.
U2 are to perform in front of Berlin's famous Brandenburg Gate on November 5th. The performance will be aired as part of the MTV Europe Music Awards, and marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which came down on November 9th, 1989.
U2's 1991 album Achtung Baby is said to have been partly inspired by the band's time in Berlin, while manager Paul McGuinness said "It'll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down. Should be fun."
The MTV EMAs will take place in Berlin's O2 World arena. U2's show itself will be free, with tickets available through u2.com and mtvema.com.
