Following the release of TV On The Radio bandmate Kyp Malone's debut solo album as Rain Machine last year, Dave Sitek is now set to make his own solo debut. Dave is also known for his production work with Liars, Foals and Scarlett Johansson.

The album will be released under the name Maximum Balloon, and will include guest appearances from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, rapper Theophilus London and Holly Miranda, as well as TVOTR bandmates Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe. There are also rumours that Talking Heads legend David Byrne may be involved, though they have yet to be confirmed.

Talking to Brooklyn Vegan, Sitek explained why the album features so many collaborations, and how it differs from his work with TVOTR.
"I spare us all from me singing on every track ... In terms of how it differs from TV On the Radio? I can get away with using 35 synthesisers because there is no way we would take that on tour. I think that it was mostly about creating songs that had to do service to the speakers. You can just say, 'Hey, I wonder what that would sound like?' and throw a lot of stuff in there that I wouldn't put my band through."

Meanwhile, he told NME.com, "It is predominantly a dance record. The songs are really immediate and every one of them comes on real strong."

The first single to be taken from the 11 track album will be 'Tiger', which is available to download now. Sitek explained how this song is central to the album as a whole.
"The whole album surprisingly came together from that one song. We realised we could lay down a track as creatively as we wanted and we wouldn't have to worry about our respective bands. That inspired me to work in the same way with the other singers."

'Maximum Balloon' is due for release on August 20th. A 30 second teaser for 'Tiger' can be seen below, while anyone with a facebook account can listen to it in full on www.maximumballon.com
