A film about Jimi Hendrix's "hoax kidnapping" is currently in pre-production. The film will be a speculative dramatisation, as no one actually knows exactly what happened on Hendrix's "lost weekend" in 1969, though the generally acknowledged story is that he was the subject of a hoax kidnapping, orchestrated by his manager, Michael Jeffrey, who is also suspected of murdering the legendary guitarist in 1970.

Entitled 'Slide', the film is being written and directed by R.H. Greene, who spoke to TwentyFourBit.com about the project.
"While we have to be speculative because no definitive version of the event exists, this takes it out of the realm of fiction for me
"It's part of Jimi's story, and I think it offers an opportunity to show him fully but from a unique angle. That was my aim in writing it, and that's going to be my aim in making it."

No word yet as to who will play Hendrix, though the casting process has begun, and the film is set to begin filming in early 2010.
